Transferring Your Domain to Weebly

Transferring your domain name to Weebly is pretty straightforward, and allows you to manage both your domain and your website from our easy-to-use interface.

To get started, visit the Domains tab in your Dashboard and click the transfer button, then enter your domain name in the window. At this time, we can only accept .com, .net, and .org domains for transfer, but if your domain is eligible you’ll see a green checkmark appear. Once you see that, click the Next button to proceed to checkout and add a year to your domain’s registration.

There are a few more steps you’ll need to complete to transfer your domain, some of which must be done through the current registrar. Follow the steps provided after extending your domain name to:

  • Make sure WHOIS privacy protection is disabled
  • Disable the registrar lock
  • Double check that your contact email address is correct and you have access to it
  • Get your domain’s EPP code from the current registrar and enter it to authorize the transfer process.

Once you’ve finished these steps, you’re halfway there! You’ll receive some important emails from your current registrar and from Weebly that need to be followed up on, including what’s known as a Form of Authorization. Be sure to read and follow the instructions in these emails to keep the transfer process going smoothly. All done with that? Great! Now you can kick back, relax, and wait for the transfer to complete. Your domain will remain active during the process, and you can even check the progress from the Domains tab in your account. We’ll also send you an email to let you know when it’s done.

What if you change your mind about the transfer? No worries - you can cancel it from the status page at any time before it finishes. We’ll give you the choice between a refund and a domain name credit you can use in the future.
